Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The WIOA program offers short-term training in high-demand careers. This training is available to members of OhioMeansJobs Lucas County and WorkReady-certified job seekers. Approved training leads to industry-recognized credentials and employment opportunities. Explore the FAQs below to learn more.

  • I am interested in training services. What do I do?

    Call 419.213.JOBS (5627) and let them know that you are interested in WIOA Training Assistance.

  • What careers are currently in high-demand in our local area?

  • Where can I go to receive training?

    Visit the Workforce Inventory of Education and Training (WIET) website to view the list of approved providers for your desired program in Lucas County, once you have been approved for the WIOA training program.

  • Do I need to be working to receive WIOA training assistance?

    No, there is not a specific employment requirement to be potentially eligible for training assistance. Participants can be unemployed, working part-time, or working full-time and still be able to receive training assistance.

  • I want to go back to school. Can you help me?

    If an individual meets certain requirements, they can receive funding for short-term training in a high-demand occupation. Funding is subject to availability.

Priority of Service for Veterans

Priority of Service is give to Veterans or their eligible spouse for the receipt of employment, training, and placement services funded in whole or in part by the Department of Labor (DOL).

WorkReady for Job Seekers

WorkReady Lucas County is a program that helps workers improve their reading and math skills for free. The program awards the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), which measures and certifies the skills needed to succeed in jobs across different industries and occupations. We also use the NCRC to identify suitable candidates for our WIOA training programs.
